Managed Deer Hunt Scheduled for Jug Bay Tuesday

This managed hunt is not open to the public, according to the county parks and recreation department.

The Anne Arundel County Department of Parks and Recreation is holding a managed deer hunt Tuesday on the Glendenning Nature Preserve at Jug Bay.

The hunt—which is not open to the general public—will take place from 5:30 a.m. to noon.

"The primary goal is to manage an overabundant deer population. Hunters are strongly urged to harvest as many antlerless deer as they can take safely and humanely," according to the county parks and recreation website.

Though the county generally accepts applications for its managed hunt program on a continuous basis, the program is at capacity for the 2013-2014 season, according to the website.

For more information on managed hunts conducted by the county, contact the parks and recreation department at 410-222-7300.
