Baby Left with Hotel Clerk, Mother Charged with Child Neglect
Police say there was evidence of possible prostitution activity at the Linthicum hotel.

LINTHICUM—A Hagerstown woman was charged with child neglect Tuesday after police said her 2-month-old child was left with a hotel desk clerk.
Anne Arundel County police charged 32-year-old Leah Lillian Ellison in connection with the incident that occurred at a Microtel hotel in Linthicum.
Ellison and another woman rented the room where "officers observed items indicating possible prostitution activity," according to the police report.
The baby was reportedly in the care of the unidentified woman while Ellison visited a friend. Police said Ellison's baby was then given to the hotel's desk clerk when the unidentified woman left with a man.
While officers were on the scene, Ellison came into the lobby and was arrested.
Charges against the unidentified woman are pending, police said. Child Protective Services was contacted and took custody of the baby.
