9 Charged in Online Prostitution Sting in Hanover Hotel District

Nearly 70 phone numbers were identified by police in an undercover prostitution sting using a website.

Nine men from across the region have been charged in an Internet prostitution sting in the Hanover Hotel District. 

Undercover officers from Anne Arundel County's special enforcement section conducted the sting on Nov. 15, posing as escorts on a website known for offering prostitution services, according to a press release.

Throughout the operation, detectives received phone calls and texts from 69 different phone numbers, several of which were an attempt to negotiate prices and schedule appointments for future meetings.

These phone numbers are being reviewed to identify the perpetrators, police said.

Of the 69 numbers, nine men have been identified and charged with prostitution and assignation.
