1st State Title For Northeast Boys Basketball Won In Late Rally: Recap
Northeast boys basketball just won its first state title, a report said. The Eagles came close in 2020, but the pandemic robbed them.

PASADENA, MD — The Northeast High School boys basketball team on Friday won its first state championship, The Capital reported.
The Eagles topped St. Charles 69-66 at the Xfinity Center in College Park. Northeast eliminated a double-digit deficit and scored 31 points in the fourth quarter to claim the crown, The Capital said.
"My emotions are still not in check. I got so much going through my mind, but we ended our career with a W. Not a lot of people can say they did that," senior Cam Albury told The Capital after scoring 25 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter and the game-winner.

The Capital said Albury's brother played for Northeast in 2020 when the state playoffs were canceled just before the Eagles were set to play in the Maryland semifinal.
"For a school, for a community, for each other, for a team robbed of this chance by COVID, and for Diane: Northeast High School is your Class 3A state champion!" Anne Arundel County Public Schools said on Facebook.

Northeast Athletics applauded the team's effort.
"These young men, Coach O'Dea, and all of his coaching staff made history by earning the first state championship in program history,"' Northeast Athletics said on Facebook. "The legacy this group will leave behind is truly unforgettable - BANNERS HANG FOREVER, BOYS!"
