Pedestrian Dead After Anne Arundel County Crash: Police

A pedestrian was fatally struck by an SUV in Anne Arundel County, police said. Officers are still trying to identify the victim.

BROOKLYN PARK, MD - A pedestrian was fatally struck by an SUV while crossing a Brooklyn Park roadway on Monday, police said.

Officers do not yet know the name of the victim, but they estimated that he is 40 to 50 years old.

Authorities said the pedestrian was crossing Ritchie Highway from the west side of the street near the intersection of Hammonds Lane.

Police said a 1990 Chevrolet Suburban heading south on Ritchie Highway hit the pedestrian around 4:45 a.m.

The driver and witnesses stayed on the scene, officers said.

Authorities said medics took the victim to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he died later that morning.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department is still investigating.
