UPDATE: Policeman Flips Cruiser, Suffers Minor Injuries

Paramedics transported the officer to Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie.

UPDATE (1:57 p.m.)—An Anne Arundel County police officer suffered minor injuries Wednesday night when his police cruiser “turned over in the median area” of Route 100 near Catherine Avenue, a fire department spokesman said.

Anne Arundel County Fire Department Chief Michael Cox said firefighters and paramedics responded to a call just before 9 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, firefighters found a single-vehicle accident—a police cruiser had turned over in the median area of the roadway, Cox said.

The driver of the cruiser, a seven-year veteran of the police department, was the only individual injured in the accident. He suffered minor injuries and was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie by ambulance.

Police spokesman Justin Mulcahy said wet road conditions may have been the cause of the accident as the officer was responding to an emergency call for service at the time of the wreck.
