Parkway Closed, Traffic Snarled After Pedestrian Struck
A pedestrian was reported killed just before 5 a.m. and lanes were closed in both directions. Traffic was snarled throughout the area.

(Updated: 9:28 a.m.) - The Baltimore Washington Parkway was blocked to traffic Wednesday morning after a pedestrian was struck, news outlets reported.Â
The Baltimore Sun reported that the incident happened just before 5 a.m. The pedestrian was killed in the crash, according to the Sun, which quoted a US Park Police spokesman.Â
The northbound lane of the Parkway was open at about 8 a.m., but the southbound lane remained closed.Â
Traffic was being diverted onto Route 100 and there were major backups on roadways throughout the area, including Route 32, Route 100, Route 176 and many side roads.Â
