Teen Gets 14 Years for Involvement in Fatal Drive-By Shooting

Paul Michael pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact in the murder of Matthew Morrow.

The man who was behind the wheel in a fatal drive-by shooting in 2012 has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Paul James Michael, 19, of Pasadena, pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact in the murder of Matthew Morrow, 21, in October 2012.

Anne Arundel County Circuit Court Judge Paul Hackner sentenced Michael to 20 years in prison, suspending six of them for a total of 14 years, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Matthew Morrow, 21, and Darren Costa, 20, were shot by a passing SUV while standing in front of Costa's home. Morrow died but Costa was able to retreat and survive, police said.

Anne Arundel County police identified the occupants of the SUV with help from the public: Michael was reportedly the driver and Ronald McLeod was the shooter.

In July, McLeod pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery.

Prosecutors said throughout the investigation, they tried to confirm what level of involvement Michael had in the shooting.

“These charges are a culmination of the tireless effort and excellent cooperation between the police department and my office,” said Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess.
