Sports run deep in Anne Arundel, and Arundel High School has long been at the heart of it. It’s no surprise some standout talent once wore the Wildcat uniform. Today we're celebrating five unforgettable athletes from Arundel High School who made a name for themselves well beyond the hometown field.


1. Kyle Beckerman – MLS Midfielder

A standout graduate of the Class of 2000, Kyle Beckerman played for Real Salt Lake and represented the U.S. Men’s National Team in multiple World Cups. He remains one of the most recognized figures in American soccer history. (Source: Annapolis Blues FC)


2. Noel Evans – Multi-Time State Champion Sprinter

Evans cemented her legacy as Arundel High’s most decorated track athlete ever, winning multiple state titles in the 200m, 400m and relays while earning County Female Athlete of the Year and All-MET honors. 3. Darnerien McCants – NFL Wide Receiver

An Arundel High standout, McCants earned All-State, All-County and All-Metro honors as a senior while setting school and MEAC single-season records and leading NCAA Division I-AA. Selected by the Washington Redskins in the fifth round of the 2001 NFL Draft, he went on to play multiple seasons in the NFL. (Source: ProFootballReference.com, Football University)


4. Alec Lemon – College & NFL Wide Receiver

A record-setting wide receiver at Arundel High, Alec Lemon became Syracuse University’s all-time leader in career receptions before signing with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2013. 5. Bernie Walter – Hall of Fame Coach & Athletic Director

Legendary former athletic director and baseball coach at Arundel High, Bernie Walter led the school's baseball program to multiple state titles. He also served as president of the Anne Arundel County Sports Hall of Fame for over a decade, significantly elevating its stature.
