Arbutus Jeweler William Houston Dies at 80
Baltimore native operated Oregon Drive store for 22 years.

William E. Houston, who operated a jewelry store at 5515 Oregon Drive for 22 years and was active in civic groups, passed away on Aug 7 at age 80, according to his wife of 56 years, Helen.
He had Alzheimer's disease, Helen Houston said.
William Houston was a member of Arbutus Business and Professional Association, and along with his wife was among the originators of the Arbutus Arts Festival in the 1970s.

"He was very much involved in the community," Helen Houston said.
Aside from his wife, Houston is survived by two daughters; Patricia Wilson and Laurie Ridgley. The Houston's son, Howard, died three years ago.
