Arbutus Shopping Center Seeking Clients
Advance Auto Parts deal unlikely; expect a clothing store and a discount store to fill vacant spaces.

The management of Arbutus Shopping Center, located on the 1000-block of Maiden Choice Lane, is seeking tenants to fill empty retail locations vacated by Blockbuster and Fashion Bug.
Fashion Bug closed in late 2011, while Blockbuster pulled out of the shopping center in 2010.
Advance Auto Parts had been contemplating a move into the shopping center, but the prospects for gaining the chain as a tenant have diminished, said Paul Weinberg, leasing representative with H&R Retail.

"There's still a chance" that Advance Auto Parts may be interested in the shopping center, Weinberg said. "We're still in talks with them."
Other retail stores have expressed an interest in the shopping center, the closest in proximity to UMBC.

Although he declined to name companies, Weinberg said it is likely that a clothing store will move into the space formerly occupied by Blockbuster, and a discount dollar-type store may take the place of Fashion Bug Plus on the western end of the shopping center.
