Here's a sampling of the Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department's recent activity.

During the period July 10-17, AVFD received 57 calls for medical and fire-rescue service, including the following:
July 11: At 4:10 p.m., a motor vehicle accident with injury was reported at Ingleside Avenue at Edmondson Avenue in Catonsville. Crews from the Arbutus and Woodlawn volunteer stations responded. One person with non-life-threatening injuries was taken to a local hospital. One seriously injured person was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

July 12: At 8:39 p.m., a childbirth was reported on the 900 block of Courtney Road in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe career stations responded. One person was transported to a local hospital.
July 13: At 10:26 p.m., a building fire was reported on the 7400 block of Washington Boulevard in Elkridge. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe career stations responded and assisted units with extinguishing a warehouse fire.

July 15: At 6:12 p.m., a motor vehicle accident with injury was reported on I-95 between Exits 46-47 in Halethorpe. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe career stations responded. One person with non-life-threatening injuries was taken to a local hospital.
July 15: At 11:28 p.m., an assault was reported on the 700 block of West Patapsco Avenue in English Consul. Crews from the English Consul and Arbutus volunteer stations responded. One seriously injured person was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma center.
