During the period Dec. 25-Jan. 1, AVFD received 78 calls for medical and fire-rescue service, including the following:
Dec. 25: At 3:32 p.m., a dwelling fire was reported on the 1400-block of Knecht Avenue in Violetville. Crews from the Violetville, Arbutus and Lansdowne volunteer stations and Catonsville and Halethorpe career stations responded. A chimney fire was extinguished.

Dec. 26: At 7:59 p.m., a motor vehicle accident with rescue was reported on Southwestern Boulevard at Leeds Avenue in Arbutus. Crews from the Arbutus and Violetville volunteer stations and Halethorpe career station responded. One critically injured person was rescued from the vehicle and taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. One person with non-life-threatening injuries was taken to a local hospital.
Dec. 26: At 9:01 p.m., a motel fire was reported at the White Elk Model on the 6100-block of Washington Boulevard in Howard County. Crews from the AVFD and Catonsville and Halethorpe career stations responded to assist Howard County units with extinguishing a two alarm motel fire.

Dec. 28: At 5:08 p.m., a dwelling fire was reported on the unit block of Hilltop Place in Catonsville. Crews from the AVFD and Catonsville, Halethorpe and Westview career station responded. A bedroom fire was extinguished.
Dec. 30: At 2:11 a.m., a motor vehicle accident with rescue was reported on Wilkens Avenue at Wilton Farm Drive in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe career station responded. One seriously injured person was rescued from the vehicle and taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
