Cars Damaged by Falling Rocks on Beltway

Rocks falling from the CSX overpass in Lansdowne damaged numerous cars.

At least fifteen cars were damaged by rocks falling from the CSX Hollins Ferry train tracks over the beltway in Lansdowne on the night of Dec. 12, according to Maryland State Police.

WBAL reported that at least 15 cars were dented, scratched or had windshields cracked by rocks that began to fall around 7 p.m. No injuries were reported.

Traffic on the inner loop of the beltway was briefly halted while the rocks were cleared. Police estimtate that hundreds of rocks fell from the train overpass.

According to ABC2News, CSX officials inspected the bridge and were unable to determine why the rocks fell.

The incident happened about a half-mile south of where a earlier in the day.
