Overnight Wilkens Avenue Closures Start Wednesday

The closures could last up to 10 nights as crews set new steel beams.

State highway crews will close Wilkens Avenue over the Baltimore Beltway for about 10 nights beginning Wednesday night, officials announced in a press release.

During the closures, crews will set new steel beams over Wilkens Avenue for the second half of the new inner loop bridge over the street, according to a press release. The work is part of a $13 million project to replace the bridge. The first half was completed in November.

The closures will begin at 11 p.m. and end by 5 a.m. each night. The crews will work Sunday through Thursday nights. Traffic on the beltway will not be affected.
