Save-A-Lot Holding Second Job Fair

The Save-A-Lot store in Arbutus will conduct a second job fair at the end of February to fill out the personnel roster for the new store, according to the chain's district manager, Joseph Reiser.

About 100 people were interviewed during a , with about 20 people called back for second interviews at the store, Reiser said.

"We had a real good turnout," he said. "A lot of people pulled up and asked questions."

A similar turnout is expected for the second job fair at the end of February, which has not yet been scheduled, he said.

By its grand opening in March, Save-A-Lot will have 15 to 20 full-and part-time workers hired primarily from the neighborhood-including many former Superfresh employees, Reiser said.

"The more local, the better," he said.

Reiser said that Save-A-Lot management has been following the of the new store in Arbutus Patch and reading the and from members of the community.

"This is the first time we've seen feedback from the community before opening a store," he said. "It's a good learning experience, positive and negative."

Reiser said that Save-A-Lot is aware of the mixed response and intends to win over the community, including holding an open house to let the public tour the new store.
