Sulphur Spring Inn Closes

Sulphur Spring Inn, the Arbutus landmark watering hole on the 1400-block of Sulphur Spring Road, closed its doors last weekend.

The future of the business location is undetermined, sources tell Arbutus Patch.

While there are other bars in the Arbutus area, the Sulphur Spring Inn held a special place for many residents as a convenient and friendly establishment in the center of town.

"About 75 percent of the clientele lived within walking distance," said Inn regular and occasional employee Craig Rollins.

Since 2007, the bar has been owned by Kathy and John Miller. The location has been known as the Sulphur Spring Inn for at least 30 years. According to locals, it was Lissau's Restaurant until the 1970s.

Rollins posted a thank you to the Millers at a site he owns, mixwood.com. "They're local people, decent people, and good friends," he said.
