Manhole Explosion Injures 1 In SW Baltimore: Officials

An apparent manhole explosion prompted a closure on Frederick Avenue, according to fire officials.

BALTIMORE, MD — One person was hurt in an apparent manhole explosion in southwest Baltimore Thursday morning, according to authorities.

At least one person was injured, the Baltimore Firefighters Union IAFF Local 734 reported before 11 a.m.

Frederick Avenue was closed between Chedworth Lane and Stonecroft Road, fire officials said, and BGE was summoned.

A private contractor had been working in the area when the manhole explosion occurred, WJZ reported.
