50 MPH Winds Possible As Advisories Issued In These MD Counties
A gale warning is also in effect for all Maryland waterways, the National Weather Service said Tuesday.
MARYLAND — Advisories were issued for nine Maryland counties on Tuesday as strong winds battered the state.
Wind gusts of up to 50 mph are possible in Frederick, Carroll, Baltimore, Cecil, Prince George's, Anne Arundel, Calvert, Montgomery, Howard and Harford counties, where advisories are set to run until 8 p.m., the National Weather Service said.
According to forecasters, sustained winds of 20 to 25 mph are expected, with peak gusts reaching 45 to 50 mph at times.

"Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects," forecasters said. "Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result."
A gale warning is also in effect until 8 p.m. for the following waterways:

- Chesapeake Bay main channel north of Smith Point, Virginia
- Tidal Potomac from Cobb Island to Smith Point, Virginia
- Chester River to Queenstown
- Eastern Bay
- Choptank River to Cambridge and the Little Choptank River
- Tangier Sound and the inland waters surrounding Bloodsworth Island
Forecasters said strong winds would likely cause hazardous waves, which could capsize or damage vessels.
Wednesday will remain windy, with gusts as high as 34 mph possible.
Despite the strong winds, the remainder of the work week will be mild and sunny across the Baltimore area. A chance of showers returns to the region on Saturday.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 66. Northwest wind around 9 mph.
Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 49.
Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 74.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64.
Saturday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59.
Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 72.
Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52.
