Baltimore Man Dies When Car Hits South Locust Point Marine Terminal

A Baltimore man driving at a high rate of speed died when his car hit the gate of the South Locust Point Marine Terminal, police said.

BALTIMORE, MD — A 51-year-old Baltimore man died early Sunday morning when his car went off the road and struck the gate at the South Locust Point Marine Terminal entrance and fencing nearby in Baltimore.

The Maryland Transportation Authority Police said the fatal crash occurred at 4:49 a.m. Sunday in the 2000 block of East McComas Street. MDTA Police Officers assigned to the Port of Baltimore Detachment responded to the crash.

Police found a black Nissan Maxima which had been involved in a single-vehicle crash. The driver of the Nissan, who police have not yet identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said the Nissan was traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway and struck the marine terminal’s gate and fencing.
