The Godfather (1972) is one of the most Iconic films ever-made. Marlon Brando played Don Vito Corleone, his character has lived on past the silver screen and has become one of the most famous images in film and pop-culture.
Godfather Part II (1974) saw Michael Corleone, the youngest of Don Vito's three sons take the "Family Business" to a higher level. It also made him a zombie to his wife and children. Al Pacino played Michael Corleone. Robert De Niro played young Vito Corleone as the film did flashbacks to the rise of Vito who came to America as an Italian immigrant from Corleone, Sicily (Italy).
Godfather III released 16-years after Godfather II was a good film, but didn't live up to the excellence of the first 2-movies. Al Pacino played an older Michael Corleone who was trying to fully legitimize the business interest of the Corleone Family. His nephew (Andy Garcia) was the illegitimate-son of his older brother Santino "Sonny" Corleone had some of the same bad traits of his father, mainly his temper.
Critics were not fans of Godfather III. Diane Keaton, the dynamic actress that played Kay Adams the wife of Michael Corleone passed away October 25th. Keaton was in all 3 Godfather films. One of the main actors of Godfather I & II Robert Duvall (Tom Hagen) wasn't in Godfather III due to a contract dispute with Paramount Pictures. Talia Shire (Connie Corleone), the sister of Michael, appeared in all 3 Godfather films. The Godfather franchise was directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
Goodfellas, the only other Mob-Movie Classic that is on the level of The Godfather franchise of films, was released the same-year 1990, celebrating its 35th Anniversary release this past September 19th.
Goodfellas was released to theaters on September 19, 1990.
