Off-Duty D.C. Police Sergeant Killed In Baltimore Shooting: Cops

BREAKING: The 40-year-old sergeant suffered gunshot wounds to his body. Another victim was also injured in the shooting.

BALTIMORE, MD — An off-duty Metropolitan Police Department sergeant was killed in a shooting in Baltimore early Saturday morning, police said.

Officers were called to the 2800 block of Elgin Avenue for a report of a shooting at around 12:45 a.m. Officers found two shooting victims at the scene. The off-duty sergeant was identified as Tony Anthony Mason Jr., 40, who suffered gunshot wounds to his body, police said. He was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

The second victim was identified as a 43-year-old woman. Police said she suffered a gunshot wound to her leg and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Investigators say both victims were sitting inside a parked car when an unknown suspect approached the vehicle and began to shoot. Police say the suspect then left the scene.
