Funeral For Officer Keona Holley To Cause Traffic In Baltimore

Heavy traffic is expected in downtown Baltimore Tuesday due to the funeral service for Officer Keona Holley.

BALTIMORE, MD — The funeral for Officer Keona Holley is set for Tuesday, and officials are advising drivers to be prepared for heavy traffic in downtown Baltimore.

Holley died Dec. 23 after being taken off life support. She was 39.

The fallen officer was shot in her patrol car while working the midnight shift Dec. 16 in Curtis Bay. She was assigned to the Southern District and had been with the Baltimore Police Department for two years.

Funeral services will take place at the Baltimore Convention Center at 1 West Pratt Street on Tuesday, Jan. 11.

A wake will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the funeral at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow the funeral at King Memorial Park, 8710 Dogwood Road, Baltimore, MD 21244.

Drivers should give themselves extra travel time downtown in the morning and early afternoon.

To avoid delays, authorities advise taking routes around the Baltimore Convention Center.

Traffic along Interstate 395 will be able to access eastbound Conway Street and northbound Howard Street, with temporary traffic stops on I-395 at Conway Street.

Officials say traffic will likely be impacted from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in these areas:

  • Pratt Street between Paca and Light Streets
  • Russell/Paca Street between Lee and Pratt Streets
  • Sharp Street between Pratt and Conway Streets
  • Howard Street between Pratt and Conway Streets
  • Conway Street between Light and Howard Streets
  • Charles Street between Pratt and Conway Streets
  • Single lane closures along northbound and southbound Howard Street between Camden and Conway Streets (next to the median in both directions)
  • Right lane closure of westbound Conway Street between Charles and Howard Streets
  • Southbound Charles Street will be closed at Conway Street
  • Westbound Conway Street will be closed to through traffic between Light and Howard Streets around 12:30 p.m. and will remain closed until funeral vehicles clear the area.

Media will be at the corner of West Conway Street and South Sharp Street, officials said.

Viewing was slated for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Wylie Funeral Home at 701 N. Mount Street in Baltimore.
