House Of Cards Season 6 Will Be Last In Series
The news comes as the show's star, Kevin Spacey, was accused of sexual misconduct by actor Anthony Rapp.

House of Cards season 6 will be the final season in the popular series, Netflix said on Monday. The news that the season will be its last comes as the show's star, Kevin Spacey, was accused by actor Anthony Rapp of making a sexual advance on him in the 80s, when Rapp was 14. Spacey said that he owed Rapp the sincerest apology if he did behave as Rapp alleged while claiming that he doesn't remember the encounter.
The decision to end the show after season 6 was reportedly made before the accusation made by Rapp was published by BuzzFeed. TV Line reported that multiple sources confirmed to them that the decision was made months ago. A Netflix representative confirmed to Patch that the decision to cancel the show was made before the allegation came to light.
In a joint statement, Netflix and Media Rights Capital, the TV studio involved in creating the show, said the two companies are "deeply troubled" by the news concerning Spacey.

"In response to last night’s revelations, executives from both of our companies arrived in Baltimore this afternoon to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported," the statement said. "As previously scheduled, Kevin Spacey is not working on set at this time.”
Rapp said that in 1986 he was 14 years old and he was acting in a Broadway production with Ed Harris and Judith Ivey when he accepted an invitation from Spacey to come by his apartment.

"He picked me up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold," Rapp told BuzzFeed. "But I don't, like, squirm away initially, because I'm like, 'What's going on?' And then he lays down on top of me. I was aware that he was trying to get with me sexually.
"My stomach churns," Rapp said. "I still to this day can't wrap my head around so many aspects of it."
Rapp, who starred in the original production of "Rent" and can now be seen in "Star Trek: Discovery," says he never confronted Spacey about the incident.
