Tornado Watch In Effect For 13 MD Counties, Baltimore City: Update
The Baltimore region is now under a tornado watch as a slow-moving storm system moves across the area. See the latest forecast.
MARYLAND — Heavy rain, hail and even a tornado are possible on Friday as intense storms move into the Baltimore region, according to the latest forecasts.
On Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for much the state until midnight. Counties included in the watch are Anne Arundel, Prince George's, Montgomery, Carroll, Frederick, Washington, Cecil, Baltimore, Baltimore City, Calvert, Charles, St. Mary's, Garrett and Allegany.
Another Tornado Watch has been issued for locations east of the previous one. This one is in effect through midnight. A flood watch is also in effect starting at 7 p.m. Friday for much of the area.

According to the NWS, a slow-moving system will track across the Baltimore region Friday and could bring multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms.
Forecasters said thunderstorms with heavy rain will move into the region early Friday evening before shifting to moderate to heavy rain at times into the late evening and overnight hours.

According to the Capital Weather Gang's latest forecast, some storms could be intense with multiple hazards possible, including flooding downpours, damaging winds, large hail and even a tornado.
Total rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is likely, with localized amounts up to 5 inches possible. Thunderstorms
may produce rain rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour, according to the NWS.
Forecasters said excessive runoff could result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone areas. Considerable local flooding is also possible.
Counties included in the flood watch area are Anne Arundel, Calvert, Carroll, Cecil, Howard, Montgomery, Charles, Baltimore, Harford, Prince George's and St. Mary's.
Rains are expected to weaken into the pre-dawn hours of Saturday, forecasters said. A few morning showers are possible, and chances of showers and storms increase into the midday and afternoon hours. Evening thunderstorms are also possible.
Sunny and pleasant conditions return to the region on Sunday with high temperatures near 70 to the mid-70s.

Friday: Isolated showers between 3pm and 5pm, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Friday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2am, then showers likely. Low around 63. Light and variable wind becoming northwest 8 to 13 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Saturday: Showers likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 11am. High near 76. West wind around 13 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Saturday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm. Low around 54. West wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 76. West wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 58.
Monday: Sunny, with a high near 80.
Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 62.
Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 87.
