Marilyn Mosby Trailing In Baltimore State's Attorney Race
Democratic challenger Ivan Bates is leading the incumbent, Marilyn Mosby, by almost nine points.

BALTIMORE, MD — Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby, who is awaiting trial on federal criminal charges, is trailing in early returns in her three-way Democratic primary as she seeks a third term.
Mosby is charged with perjury and making false statements on loan applications to purchase properties in Florida.
As of 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, her Democratic challenger, Ivan Bates, is leading with 19,487 votes (40.99%).

"We have a long road ahead but thank you for your support thus far in our campaign to make Baltimore safe for everyone!" Bates tweeted after the polls closed Tuesday.
Mosby is in second place with 15,389 votes (32.37%) but remains cautiously optimistic as she attempts to seek a third term in office.

"While we don't know how things will end up, we still have 20,000 plus votes to count. We know we love our city. I know I am blessed to serve the bold, beautiful people of Baltimore City," she said during a news conference.

Thiru Vignarajah remains in last place with 12,662 votes (26.64%). That's with 284 of 296 election day precincts reporting.
Mosby rose to national prominence in 2015 when she pursued criminal charges against six police officers in the death of Freddie Gray, a Black man who suffered a spinal injury after police handcuffed, shackled and placed him head-first into a van. None of the officers was convicted.
