Meet Faces of Hope Breast Cancer Survivor from Greenspring

American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk Oct. 21 at Camden Yards features inspiring survivors who are Faces of Hope

Lynsai Green had the shock of her life when she was diagnosed with breast cancer right after her wedding in 2016. While taking off her dress, she noticed a bruise on her right breast with a knot underneath. By morning, the spot was warm and painful. She made an appointment with her gynecologist and was diagnosed three days later. She was diagnosed a second time in 2019 thanks to a mammogram, which she gets every six months because she carries the BRCA gene and is high-risk.

What gives her hope is that she is in remission and, she says, “knowing that I would be able to live a new normal life and be here for my children.”

Lynsai founded a Women’s Community Group that hosts a ‘Survivor/Thriver Month’ in October featuring a special giveaway for a survivor. She spreads hope by speaking to newly diagnosed survivors, teaching them to advocate for themselves. “I love being surrounded by other survivors and hearing their stories. I support the American Cancer Society because they support us. The Society fights alongside us,” says Lyndsai.

She advises women to: “Know your body. Know your family history. Eat properly. See the doctor regularly. Get your mammograms. Early detection is the best detection.”
