National Aquarium To Require Guests Prove Their Vaccinated Against COVID-19

BALTIMORE, MD — If you're thinking about visiting the National Aquarium in Baltimore anytime soon, you'll first have to prove that you're fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Amid the rising COVID-19 cases in Maryland and across the country, the National Aquarium in Baltimore announced that starting Jan. 25 it will require guests ages 12 and older to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 before entering its facility.

According to the popular attraction, any vaccine that has been approved by the World Health Organization will be accepted, including Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson. Full vaccination means guests have received a full dosage of an approved vaccine at least 14 days prior to the date of scheduled visitation to the Aquarium.

The National Aquarium said the following are acceptable proofs of vaccination:

• The original, a copy or a digital photo of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention vaccination card or similar document from another state, local or foreign government.
• A digital vaccine card from one of the following apps: Clear App, MyIR Mobile, Excelsior Pass and Mobile Phone Wallet

Guests ages 18 and older will also be asked to provide a photo ID alongside their vaccine record.

For guests who have either a medical or religious exemption, the National Aquarium said a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours will be accepted. Accepted tests can be either lab-run polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or rapid antigen tests. At-home tests, however, will not be accepted.

Since Oct. 2021, a vaccine policy for National Aquarium staff and volunteers has also been in place.

In addition to being fully vaccinated, the aquarium requires everyone over the age of two years old to wear a face covering at all times while inside its building.
