Rain, Storms To Drench Maryland This Week: See Latest Forecast

Showers and storms are expected to soak Maryland over multiple days this week, bringing gusty winds and downpours to parts of the state, according to the latest forecasts.

A high-pressure system will move further offshore on Tuesday, allowing a weak cold front to approach the region, according to the National Weather Service. The front will move slowly across Maryland through Friday, leading to increased showers and thunderstorms each day.

On Tuesday, the most likely window for storms is between 3 and 9 p.m., and roughly 4 and 8 p.m. in the Beltway area, according to The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center said the Baltimore region is in a marginal, or Level 1 out of 5, risk zone for severe storms on Tuesday. The primary threats are damaging winds, lightning and heavy rain. Some areas could see up to an inch of rainfall, forecasters said.

On Tuesday, temperatures will also return to the low to mid-80s with a little humidity, thanks to dew points in the low to mid-60s.

Additional shower and storm chances remain Wednesday through Friday as the cold front stalls over the state, NWS forecasters said.

On Wednesday, there's a slight chance of showers and storms in the afternoon, with chances increasing after 8 p.m.

Thursday will bring more clouds and humidity to the Baltimore region. Showers and storms will be more widespread, according to the Capital Weather Gang, and will likely continue into Thursday night.

Friday is expected to bring one last day of wet, soggy conditions to the area.

"Friday features more clouds and shower and storm chances, especially in the afternoon, but coverage may not be as widespread as Thursday," the Capital Weather Gang said. "The weekend shows improvement with partly sunny skies on Saturday and mostly sunny Sunday. However, shower chances may linger on Saturday, especially south and southeast of the Beltway."

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 8pm. Cloudy, with a low around 67. Light southeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday: A chance of showers before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. South wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
