RCM&D has officially awarded a $10,000 donation to Horizon Day Camp, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring the joy of childhood for children with cancer and their families. Serving children throughout the state of Maryland, Horizon Day Camp offers an inclusive, full-summer day camp, along with year-round programs, and in-hospital activities – all provided free of charge – for children with cancer and their siblings, giving families a much-needed reprieve and creating moments of joy in a world often filled with “no.” With the support of pediatric oncologists and nurses, the camp welcomes children of all mobility levels, helping more than 160 kids thrive emotionally and socially in a safe and supportive environment

The $10,000 donation will directly support transportation, which is part of the free, full-summer day camp experience, program supplies, special events, and staffing – making it possible for every child to enjoy a magical, memory-filled summer.

Initially, RCM&D received a $5,000 donation through the Liberty Mutual® and Safeco Insurance® 2025 Make More Happen™ Awards program for its partnership with Horizon Day Camp. After their story was featured on the Make More Happen microsite at https://www.agentgiving.com/rcmd, the community rallied with over 500 votes and comments—triggering a matching donation and bringing the total to $10,000.

RCM&D’s commitment runs deep. Employees serve on Horizon Day Camp’s board, volunteer at camp each summer, and participate in annual fundraising walks alongside their families. The firm also hosts an annual toy drive and holiday celebration for families in treatment, featuring music, crafts, and visits from Santa and the Oriole Bird. During a recent hospital visit, an older patient recovering from a complicated procedure lit up when greeted by the Oriole Bird – just as excited as the younger children were to see Santa.

“Recognizing independent agents’ dedication to their communities and nonprofit partners is what the Make More Happen Awards are all about,” said Lori Monsky, Senior Territory Manager, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance. “RCM&D is an outstanding example of how agencies can make a real difference, and we hope sharing their story inspires others to give back as well.”
