Storm Chances Return To MD, Flood Watch In Effect: See Latest Timing, Impacts

Forecasters said parts of Maryland could see multiple inches of rain on Wednesday. Here's the latest forecast.

Storms will return to Maryland on Wednesday and could bring heavy rainfall and flooding to the Baltimore-D.C. region, according to the latest forecasts.

Conditions on Wednesday will be hot and muggy with temperatures reaching the upper 80s to low 90s and dew points in the mid-70s. The moisture in the air is expected to fuel storms later in the day that could produce a lot of rain in a short amount of time.

Because of this, a flood watch is in effect until 9 p.m. for Anne Arundel, Cecil, Howard, Montgomery, Baltimore, Harford and Prince George's counties, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters said localized rainfall amounts of around 1 to 2 inches within an hour are likely. Multiple rounds of storms are possible, with total rainfall amounts of around 2 to 4 inches. This may cause creeks and small streams to rise out of their banks, with flash flooding possible.

According to The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang, the most probable time window for storms is between 3 and 10 p.m. In the Beltway area, storms seem most likely between 5 and 9 p.m.
