STREET, MD — A fire broke out Thursday morning at a two-story single-family home located in the 3900 block of Prospect Road.

Approximately 50 firefighters from the Whiteford Volunteer Fire Company arrived at the scene shortly before 8:30 a.m. Nov. 20. They found the home engulfed in flames. Additional firefighter support came from Darlington, Bel Air, Norrisville, Level, Aberdeen and Jarrettsville fire companies, along with Harford County emergency crews, four crews from York County, Penn., plus two crews from Cecil County, Md.

According to the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal, a woman living at the home was woken up by a smoke detector. She discovered a fire in the kitchen pantry. She tried to use fire extinguishers to put out the fire, but it quickly grew out of control and spread throughout the home, the OSFM reported. The woman and her dog were able to escape safely.
