HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Officials have published the first round of public input about a park system planned for 1,200 acres on the Oakington Peninsula between Aberdeen and Havre de Grace.

The community offered feedback in June about the park project as county officials aim to create a network of parks and trails along the peninsula, which includes more than two miles of Chesapeake Bay waterfront, along with natural and historic treasures.

Specifically, the property includes Swan Harbor Farm, the Carlson-Feltman Conservation Area, Belle Vue Farm, Eleanor and Millard Tydings Park, and the Mullins property.

The report identifies common themes and specific ideas for park features. Concerns, noteworthy facts and respondents’ personal experiences in the area are also included in the report.

The next step in the planning process will be for Harford County to complete a map of potential uses for different areas within the park system. The map will be presented at a community meeting in the spring to collect additional feedback before plans move forward.
