2 House Fires, 2 Rescues, Vehicle Fire: Bel Air VFC Week In Review

BEL AIR, MD — The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company facilitated two rescues from vehicles over the weekend, capping off a week that also included two fires in one day and a vehicle fire on Bel Air Road.
Here is a look at the incidents the fire company reported it handled during the week that ended July 10:
Firefighters from Bel Air helped Fallston crews with a crash on Bel Air Road at Reckord Road on Saturday, July 9. Two people were taken to trauma centers for treatment as a result of the wreck, according to the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company. It was the second rescue of the day for Bel Air firefighters, officials said.

One person was heavily trapped and had to be rescued, according to the Fallston Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company.

Bel Air crews also helped their counterparts from Fallston with an incident on Belair Road earlier in the week. That occurred in the 1700 block of Belair Road.

An engine and chief from the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company helped handle the auto fire on Thursday, July 7.


Firefighters responded to two house fires on the Fourth of July — one in Bel Air and another in Jarrettsville.
The Bel Air fire occurred around 3 p.m. on Monday, July 4, in the 2300 block of Darby Court, officials said. Smoke was showing from the front door when crews arrived, according to the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company.
Within 5 minutes, officials said firefighters brought the blaze under control.


Around 1:20 a.m. on Monday, July 4, a neighbor discovered a fire that started in a carport in Jarrettsville. About 40 firefighters helped bring the fire under control at the home in the 1300 block of West Jarrettsville Road, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
Three engines, the quint and the chief from Bel Air were among those helping to extinguish the blaze, which officials said caused $200,000 in damage. Check out this video of the fire from the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company.
