MARYLAND — While a majority of Maryland voters cast their ballots for Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday, Donald Trump is slated to retake the White House in January, according to projections.
Trump was elected the 47th president of the United States on Wednesday, a comeback for a former president who refused to accept defeat four years ago, sparked a violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, was convicted of felony charges and survived two assassination attempts.
Despite Trump's win, Maryland has been a heavily Democratic voting bloc for presidential candidates since 1988. Democrats outnumber Republicans 2-1 in the state.

In 2020, Trump received just 32% of the vote in the state. This year, he received more with 37% of the vote, with several Maryland counties leaning heavily in his favor.
