WalletHub crunched the numbers on the big box offerings this year. Take a look before you head out shopping.

You found 5 pounds of Black Friday ads in the paper Thursday morning, and you're ready to shop, but where to start? The number-crunchers at WalletHub took a look at sale papers with 8,000 deals and put together a list of the best.
At the top of the list in Virginia, Macy's, Stage and J.C. Penny's each have average discounts of more than 60 percent, followed by Kohl's and Sears. The biggest discounts were among appliances, jewelry and toys.
Total holiday spending this year is expected to reach $656 billion, according to WalletHub, up from nearly $631 billion in 2015. But, on average, discounts this year have fallen from 40.2 percent in 2015 to 39 percent this year.
