Fire Destroys Barn, Farm Equipment In Harford County

A total of 50 firefighters from the Norrisville Volunteer Fire Company responded to the blaze.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — An early-morning blaze destroyed a Harford County barn and several pieces of farm equipment on Saturday, according to state fire officials.

The fire was first reported around 12:10 a.m. at 5101 Jolly Acres Rd. in White Hall, the Office of the State Fire Marshal said in a release.

A total of 50 firefighters from the Norrisville Volunteer Fire Company responded to the blaze, which was contained to the barn. It took crews approximately 30 minutes to bring the fire under control, officials said.

According to officials, the barn and its contents were deemed a total loss. Several pieces of farm-related equipment were stored within the barn, including three farm tractors, one skid loader, a gator, three four-wheelers and three air compressors.

The damage totaled approximately $70,000, officials said. No injuries were reported.

A preliminary investigation determined the fire was accidental and was caused by the failure of the wood stove chimney.
