4-Year-Old Playing With Lighter Sparks Edgewood Apartment Bedroom Fire
The state fire marshal's office has reported an apartment bedroom fire in Edgewood that was sparked by a 4-year-old playing with a lighter.

EDGEWOOD, MD — A four-year-old playing with a lighter sparked an apartment fire Wednesday afternoon in Edgewood.
Harford County firefighters were called to a two-story apartment building at 621 Edgewood Road around 3:17 p.m. Sept. 25. The 20 firefighters from Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company and the Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire Department hustled up to apartment No. 128 at Edgewood Park Apartments where they found a small fire in a bedroom and extinguished it in less than five minutes, officials reported.
The apartment resident, Jeannie Mullins, tried to put the fire out herself before 911 was called. She was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. The fire caused $25,000 in structure damage and loss of contents, the state fire marshal's office reported. No other apartment units were damaged and no other residents were displaced.
