428 Animals Treated At Community Pet Vaccination Clinic In Harford County
Almost 430 pets were seen at a community vaccination clinic for Harford County critters that included vaccines, nail trims and microchips.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — In a four-hour timeframe Feb. 22, 428 animals - 279 dogs, 147 cats and two ferrets - received vaccines, nail trims and microchips at a pet vaccination clinic.
The Humane Society of Harford County, along with the Harford County Health Department and Heart to Heart Mobile Pet Care, hosted the event. Since it began hosting clinics in August of 2023, HSHC has seen more than 1,800 pets to give core vaccines like rabies and distemper, implant a microchip or give a combination of both.
“Highly contagious and life-threatening diseases such as distemper and rabies are preventable in our pets with annual vaccinations,” said Amanda Hickman, HSHC’s executive director. “Our low-cost vaccination clinics aim to make it easy and affordable for pet parents to receive these vital pet healthcare services. We love going into our community to provide caring, compassionate services to help keep pets and people together. A very special thanks to our partners, volunteers and staff who come together for the health and safety of all pets.”
HSHC is planning to host another clinic later this summer on a date to be determined. Visit harfordshelter.org for updates.
