Abingdon Man Contestant On Discovery Channel's 'Big Brain Theory'

Watch Corey Fleicher fight to become top engineer on the Discovery Channel's new show.

An Abingdon man made his big time debut Wednesday night, in part thanks to his IQ.

Corey Fleicher, age 30, of Abingdon is a contestant on the Discovery Channel's new show "Big Brain Theory: Pure Genius," which premiered at 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Fleicher is an Abingdon resident and Senior Mechanical Engineer with Lockheed Martin who boasts an IQ of 120, according to his bio on the show's website.

"So to me winning this competition is just the ultimate championship, it's bigger than the MVP in baseball," Fleicher said in an intro video for the show.

Fleicher is among 10 contestants challenged each week with completing an engineering task for a chance to win $50,000 and a one-year contract to work with a world-recognized firm, according to the show's website.

Contestants, including Fleicher and Baltimore native Andrew Stroup who works in Harford County, lived together during filming as a feature of the show.

"Big Brain Theory" is hosted by Kal Penn, a face you may recognize from the film "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle" or as a doctor on later seasons of the television show "House."
