BASKETBALL: John Carroll Player Scores 1,000

student Miranda Ripken scored her 1000th point Wednesday during the Patriots' game against Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore.

, a senior captain for the Patriots, was 6 for 6 from the free throw line in Wednesday's game. Two of those baskets pushed her career high over 1,000 in the fourth quarter, according to head basketball coach .

Blizzard quoted Miranda as saying, "I have to admit I was nervous, but now I feel relief that it is over. I am glad it is behind me now."

In addition to Miranda's personal accomplishment, the John Carroll Patriots beat the Institute of Notre Dame 60-36 for their 11th straight win.

The Patriots go into Thursday night's game against the with an 8-0 record in IAAM Conference play. Ripken will be honored at John Carroll before the 5:30 p.m. game.
