A Bel Air couple won $1,000 in gift cards to local restaurants this week as part of Harford County's annual restaurant week contest.
Sean and Melanie Wingate won the gift cards, which were all donated by the promotion's participants.
“We never thought we would win!” Sean Wingate said in a release.
The Wingates were presented the prize at the Mountain Branch Grille and Pub in Joppa, the busiest restaurant during the promotion, according to officials
“The Restaurant Week promotion brought in a lot of new faces to our restaurant and many returned from last year," Carol McCarthy, the restaurant's general manager, said in the release. "Our employees get very involved in the promotion. We hope to welcome everyone back throughout the year!”
Establishments that participated in this year's promotion from June 3 to 15 saw business spike 10 to 15 percent, according to officials.
