Bel Air Sonic 'Guaranteed' To Open in 2011

The site's manager said the Harford County location will be the first to feature a new interior and exterior company design.

Bel Air’s  is one signature from being approved for groundbreaking, according to its owner.

“We are hopefully going to have the permit to build  [Friday]. That’s if everything goes as planned,” Rick Joshi told Patch by telephone Thursday. “There’s something with the storm water deal, so we just need a signature on that and we’re good. … At the latest it will be a couple weeks.”

That would put the grand opening date between mid-November and early December.

“It’s going to happen this year—guaranteed. We just don’t have the exact date,” Joshi said.

Once the approval goes through, the eight-week construction process will begin, the owner said. He added that the Bel Air location will be the first to feature a new interior and exterior design developed by Sonic.

Joshi plans to . Applications will be available on site once construction begins next to and in front of  on Maryland Route 924 near Plumtree Road.

Originally slated to open in October, Joshi said the fast food stop will be worth the wait.

“I know on opening day we’re going to have all kinds of stuff out there,” Joshi said. “It’s going to be ridiculous, man. That’s all I can tell you, we got stuff planned.”
