BEL AIR, MD — The seal for the town of Bel Air recently disappeared from its marquee sign.

"As I understand it, after years of exposure to the elements, the bolts/fasteners securing the logo rusted through and could no longer hold it," Town Administrator Jesse Bane told Bel Air Patch.

On Wednesday morning, the piece of wood containing the town crest and logo were missing from one side of the marquee sign along Hickory Avenue.

The crest remains intact on the side of the sign closest to the Bel Air Library.

For now, Bel Air's Director of Public Works Steve Kline has the logo in his office for safe keeping.

The town "will most likely replace the pair once construction is completed," Kline said in a statement to Patch, meaning both sides of the sign will have replacement seals.

Bel Air's Town Hall is currently undergoing renovations to expand and modernize the space, including the police station. Groundbreaking occurred in December the project, which is expected to take 18 months to complete.
