BEL AIR, MD — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

The submission below comes from Karen Brown who nominated Emmaleigh of Bel Air.

How do you know the star local student?

Granddaughter

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Emmaleigh (Emma) is an awesome student, sister to three, soon to be four younger brothers, a kind and caring friend, and a very loving and helpful daughter/granddaughter. Emma is very dedicated to getting good grades in school. She is also an extremely busy young lady. Emmaleigh loves being an Explorer (scout) in her American Heritage Girls troop #0316. She is also a cheerleader (flyer) for the Joppatowne Seahawks and a dance student at White Marsh Ballet Academy as well as a member of the studios pre-professional dance company. Each of those organizations are extremely committed to giving back and helping out in the community. Emma is always one of the first few people to sign up for any; just about all of the service projects, charity performances, fundraisers, etc. that any of her groups' schedule. She is growing up eager to care about and help other people without expecting anything in exchange.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

She is a very kind and caring young lady.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Emmaleigh!
