'Cake Wars' Baker Opens New Shop In Bel Air

Ten years ago, baker and culinary artist Tiffanee Blackwell appeared on "Cake Wars." Last week, she opened a bakery in Bel Air.

BEL AIR, MD — The highly anticipated Tiffanee & Co Bakery has opened in Bel Air.

Co-owner and pastry chef at the bakery, Tiffanee Blackwell, appeared on Food Network's "Cake Wars" in 2015 after opening her bakery in 2011 out of her home while working as a phlebotomist. In 2014, Blackwell turned her attention solely on the bakery and opened her first brick and mortar location in downtown Dover, Del.

However, Blackwell closed her previous two locations to focus on the Bel air bakery, her first in Maryland. The Bel Air site officially opened Nov. 22 at 2225 East Churchville Rd. in a former Dunkin' Donuts location. The bakery opens weekdays at 7 a.m. and weekends at 8 a.m.

"We specialize in custom cakes and cookies and pretty much anything for any occasion, I mean, we have done all kinds of occasions, which we find kind of funny, we won't get into them, but we've done a lot of different events," Blackwell told WMAR.

Appearing on "Cake Wars" 10 years ago boosted Blackwell's confidence as a self-taught baker and culinary artist.

"I was on 'Cake Wars', so I think that you know gives customers a little bit of assurance that they are in good hands," Blackwell said. "So it made me better, but it also made me realize how good I was because I'm like little ole Tiffanee from Dover, Delaware, made it on like this national platform, I am completely self-taught, and you know I'm sure thousands of people auditioned for that show and they picked me."
