Firefighters had to rescue a cat from behind a car's dashboard after it squeezed its way behind the panels on a Thanksgiving road trip.

Firefighters with the Abingdon Fire Company were called to the Maryland House Thanksgiving Day to help extricate a cat from behind a car's dashboard while the vehicle was headed to New York.

ABINGDON, MD — During a road trip to New York for Thanksgiving, a cat managed to wedge himself behind a vehicle's dashboard.

Firefighters with the Abingdon Fire Company were called to the Maryland House Thanksgiving Day to help extricate the cat. They carefully removed interior panels of the dashboard, used a little food and water to coax the cat out, then resorted to "The Big Easy" to free the feline from his hiding spot.

The Big Easy happens to be a toolset that includes a flexible stick, a non-marring wedge and other components that allow firefighters to manipulate the internal door locks, handles or window cranks.
