Festival At Bel Air Holding Community Walks During October

Festival at Bel Air will be holding community walks on Wednesday as a way to raise mental health awareness.

BEL AIR, MD — Help Festival at Bel Air meet its goal of reaching 3,000 community miles and raise mental health awareness during the month of October.

The event kicks off on Walk Maryland Day Oct. 2 from 7 to 10 a.m. or 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. with a walk scheduled at the center every Wednesday in October.

Businesses will be on hand offering specials, giveaways and samples. Festival at Bel Air will donate $1 to school PTOs for every person that shows up to walk on behalf of their school. The school with the most walkers participating on their special night will earn a free outdoor movie night.

As part of Walktober, organizers have set up a pop-up mental health headquarters located in the vacant space next to Split Endz. This dedicated space will feature mental health professionals providing guidance, resources and information on local programs.

“This month of walking is designed not only to get people moving but also to raise awareness about the mental health challenges facing Gen Z and young millennials.,” said Kellen Hunte, director of marketing with Rappaport, the company that manages Festival at Bel Air. “Walking has huge benefits to health and well-being including mental health.”
