Energy Efficient Appliances Tax Free Later This Month
From Feb. 18-20 Maryland shoppers won't have to pay sales tax on Energy Star appliances.

If you're looking for a new appliance it may be worth waiting an extra week for the Shop Maryland Energy tax free weekend.
From Feb. 18-20, customers won't have to pay the 6 percent sales tax on certain Energy Star appliances, according to the state comptroller's website.
During Shop Maryland Energy weekend, the following Energy Star products are tax free, the website states:

- Air conditioners
- Clothes washers
- Furnaces
- Heat pumps
- Boilers
- Solar water heaters (tax-exempt at all times now)
- Refrigerators
- Dehumidifiers
- Programmable thermostats
- Compact fluorescent light bulbs
A tax free week for clothes and shoes priced less than $100 takes place the second week in August.
