Harford Community College Offers GED® Classes

Harford's GED® classes are designed around the GED ® test which covers 4 separate areas: reading/writing, science, social studies, and math.

Harford Community College will be offering GED® classes April 20 - June 22, 2026. If you are interested in taking these classes, please register here for Pre-Orientation. Pre-Orientation is required. Once Pre-Orientation is successfully completed, you will be registered for the intake/assessment class.

Harford’s GED® classes are designed around the GED ® test which covers four separate areas: reading/writing, science, social studies, and math. The College offers reading/writing and math classes every semester. Science classes are offered in the spring and summer. Social studies classes are held in the late spring and fall. PLEASE NOTE: By law, the College is prohibited from serving anyone under the age of 18 in its GED® program.

Harford offers reading/writing and science classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, and math and social studies classes on Tuesdays/Thursdays. The semester runs nine weeks long. Morning and evening classes are offered online and in person. Morning classes run from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., and evening classes run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. In-person classes are held at Edgewood Public Library and Harford Community College.

Three levels of classes are currently being offered, based on entrance testing. Two levels of classes have no tuition or fee, but books ($50) need to be purchased. The College offers book waivers to
cover half the cost of the books. The highest level of the class costs $100 for tuition, but books are included with the tuition. The College offers scholarships to cover the tuition.

The program has attendance and class participation requirements. All students are required to complete two hours a week in this program. The College provides all students with a computer program designed around the GED®.
